There are so many things you can do to stop bullying.

It's all about being a good role model, and basically just being really "active" in any anti-bullying work.

If you're on Bebo or Facebook or any social networking site, add your CyberMentors widget to your profile so that people know what you're doing!

Is your school council involved in anti-bullying work? Is there an anti-bullying club, committee or group? No? Set one up!  Get others involved!

Run awareness raising events: take part in Anti-Bullying Week or do Beatbullying's Big Stand in May.  Why not raise money for Beatbullying at the same time?

Invite organisations like Beatbullying to come to your school or youth club to talk about bullying or deliver anti-bullying workshops.

You might be an expert mentor yourself, so think about how you can pass on your skills to your mates so they know how to spot bullying and how to deal with it.

Get your school to hold special assemblies on bullying.  Why not offer to do the assembly yourself?

Set up ‘bully boxes’ or send questionnaires out to all Year Groups to find out what the problems are (if there are any!!)

Contact your local MP, Mayor, or Council Member in charge of education. Tell them what you are doing, and get their support!

Do you like helping other people? Do you think you are a good listener? Can you keep things private? Do you want to do something about bullying?

Why not become a CyberMentor? We are holding trainings all over the country for young people. As long as you're between 11 and 25, you can join us.

All you need to do is fill in our quick CyberMentors application form!

Do you want to become a CyberMentor and help your peers become
CyberMentors too? We would love to visit and hold a workshop at your
school or youth club, so follow the simple steps below and hopefully
we will be seeing you soon!

1. Talk to your teacher/youth leader/pastoral care or PSHE department
and tell them about the CyberMentors programme. Let them know why you
want to be a CyberMentor, and the benefits you, others, and your
school/group will get from it. You can suggest they have a look at
www.beatbullying.org to find out more.

2. Once they are interested they can contact Diane or Zoe (or any
other Beatbullying staff member) to have a chat about the programme,
dates and times, students involved, costs, and the benefits of being
involved in the CyberMentors programme. Please ask them to email
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  for a chat.

3. If there is a cost involved for the training then you might be
interested in helping to fundraise to get the programme into your
school. There are many ways to do this, from mufti days, to cake sales,
to organising gigs. One school even arranged a bush tucker trial for
their teachers, where students got to feed them things like jellied
eels and fried crickets! Use your creativity, it'll be fun!

Fancy doing something positive or maybe you just want to contribute to Beatbullying’s success?

Well this is for you. We are always looking for young people to join our Young People’s Advisory Group. Beatbullying values young people’s opinions and believes in giving them a voice: this is why we are looking for more young people to join this vital group.  As a member of our YPAG you will be asked to attend and participate in focus groups, debates, media activities (such as filming) and feedback sessions on Beatbullying programmes, merchandise and other related work, to give input and contribute to the overall success of Beatbullying.

The meetings will usually be held in our Crystal Palace offices every half-term. But don’t worry if you can’t make it to London as there is also a virtual youth advisory panel. This means that if we want your feedback on something, let’s say a game for example, we would invite you to come into a private chatroom on the CyberMentors site and we can talk about it in there.

Being on the YPAG doesn’t just mean telling us what we’re doing right or wrong, you'll also get the opportunity to meet celebrities, talk to the media and speak at conferences (obviously this won’t be just in half-terms).

This is open to all CyberMentors aged 11-25. If you are interested, message laurienne@beatbullying or Laurienne.buhinja@beatbullying.org or call HQ on 0208 771 3377

Look forward to having you on board!

These are just a few ideas to get you started.  If you think of something else you can do, tell us, and get together with your mates and do it!
