How many people are affected by bullying? Print E-mail

What's the problem?

  • As many as 70% of all young people have experienced some form of bullying.
  • 1 million kids are bullied every week, inside and outside of school.
  • Bullying is one of the biggest concerns for children (and parents!) as they grow up.
  • At least 20 children every year commit suicide because they are being bullied.

But what about cyberbullying?

Beatbullying asked almost 2,500 young people about cyberbullying to find out what's going on.

-    50% said they'd been cyberbullied

-    29% told no-one about being cyberbullied

-    73% said they knew who was sending them bullying messages

-    11% admitted to being a cyberbully

So... now we know the problem.  Bullying is one of the biggest issues facing all young people.  The good news is that there are millions of young people who want to do something about it.

  • If you're being bullied, you're not alone, come talk to a CyberMentor.
  • If you just want to do something about it, then do it.  Not sure what to do - ask a CyberMentor!
